The Courts of Chaos - Book Five of The Chronicles of Amber

The Courts of Chaos, it is all within the title. As the Corwin cycle of the series comes to a close, it opens the story up for the Merlin cycle to continue. Within the Courts of Chaos, the world is being destroyed, as Corwin races to create a new pattern and save his precious Amber; trouble finds him.

Corwin has come full circle, from everything that happened in book one all the way up to book five. It all makes sense to him. He knows who was involved in it all. He figures out that his family is even more devious than he thought they were, as one of them fakes their death. Another continues to grow mad and the others are lost in a tangle of mischief.

As the book ends, Corwin has been met up with Merlin and takes him to walk the pattern he has created off in Shadow and finally understands his own father.

The Hand of Oberon - Book Four of The Chronicles of Amber

The Hand of Oberon is book four of The Chronicles of Amber.

This series has really taken me by surprise, especially since it was written years ago. If you think of FaceTime that we have these days using iPads / iPhones to communicate and see one another. This book has something similar. Using the trumps with each family members picture embedded on it, they are able to communicate with one another. Another thing they can do that we can't "yet". They are able to reach their hand in and pull the other person through to their location. They have used this to save one another or help each other reach a location faster.

The book really took me by surprise near the end of the book as things came to a real understanding. Once you have opened up the page or started listening to the book, you will find yourself lost within the world of the Amberites.

Sign of the Unicorn - Book Three of The Chronicles of Amber

Sign of the Unicorn is book three of the Chronicles of Amber by Roger Zelanzy.

This is one audiobook I had to keep listening to. From the moment it started I was sucked into listening.  As I was listening to the book, I felt as if I was sitting in a room with people playing the game of "Clue". The sons and daughters of Amber are trying to discover who in the room would have attempted to kill one of the others. I didn't even know who to believe or trust anymore as the reader. Everything seemed to point at one of them then the other, and once again back to another.

If you have ever wanted to just listen to how a game of "Clue" unfolds around you. Take a moment and pick this book up off the shelves, or digitally(Currently not on kindle, but is on Audible.com). It will amaze you as it amazed me.

The book concludes leaving you wondering how it "had" come to be. Corwin and Random have found a place amongst Shadow that leaves them and the reader in awe.

The Guns of Avalon - Book Two of The Chronicles of Amber

"Nobody steals books, but your friends" - Corwin

The Guns of Avalon is book two of the Chronicles of Amber by Roger Zelanzy. This series has been one that I have been wanting to read for a long time. I first heard of it a while back from a friend, who loaned me the massive book. It contained all ten books of the series, which I never got around to finishing. After book one, the friend wanted to loan it to someone else. Guess I took too long. If you haven't heard of the series, I recommend picking it up. Each book is pretty short about four to five hours on audiobook each.

Book two continues the story of Corwin. The series is from the point of view of Corwin, who is one of the many children of Amber. Years do not mean anything to the Children of Amber. Their lives are lived in Shadow, bending, manipulating and building the Shadow to their desire. Along his journey to retake the throne of Amber, Corwin finds a place in Shadow he hasn't visited in years. Avalon.

Take the journey into Shadow with Corwin, you won't be looking back or wanting it to end.

Lorien Legacies

"In the beginning we were a group of nine. Three are gone, dead. There are six of us left. They are hunting us, and they won't stop until they've killed us all. I am Number Four. I know that I am next."- I am Number Four - by Pittacus Lore.

The series drops you into the world of Number Four currently known as John Smith; An Alien. The planet Lorien has been destroyed by the Mogadorians. Number Four and the others are known as the Garde. They were sent here to live their lives until they were powerful enough to take back Lorien. Each of the Garde left everything behind and came to Earth with a Cepan(Their protectors) and a Loric Chest.

When Number Three dies, John receives the third scar across his leg. They are now coming for Number Four. Destroying everything they own, John and his Cepan Henry pick up and move to Paradise, Ohio. Where the story begins.

I first watched the movie before actually reading the book and enjoyed it. The movie captured my interest as well as thousands across the world. Now are these stories true? I have never been to Paradise, Ohio but I hear that they tell stories to their children about the strange happenings that occurred when John Smith came to town.

I picked up the first book about a year and a half ago and enjoyed every page. There were a couple times where I knew what was going to happen; because of the movie, but I enjoyed it. When the second book came out, it didn't take me long to finish it. The third book came out last year and I kept the pages turning.

If you haven't had a chance to pick up this series, take a moment and check it out. You won't be disappointed.
